Last week, we attended Rold‘s event on the relationship between people, technology and commitment in the Industry 4.0, held at the Expo Area in Milan. The theme, officially called “Mind the Gap“, focused on two main issues concerning the industrial sector in Italy: the delay in digital trasformation process and the skills gap in the work market. We have been invited as Rold collaborators on the Smartfab project to showcase our Augmented Reality solutions as examples of cutting-edge innovations applied to industry.
A wide range of speakers have taken the stage to share their insights on how entreprenuers should deal with the challanges posed by the new technologies integrated with human capital. Among the guests there were representants of ABB, Microsoft, Finmeccanica and Fim Cisl, as well as Rold’s clients and partners. Special guests of the evening were the former fencer champion, Valentina Vezzali, and the French bass player, Patrick Djivas.
They all stressed the necessity for businesses, especially the small ones, to implement, as soon as possible, digital solutions if they want stay competitive worlwide.
As told by Rold’s CIO – Chief Innovation Officer, Paolo Barbatelli, the word “mind” in “Mind the Gap” means that”we should consider technological development as way to progress and improve our lives, not something to be worried about“. The training on digital instruments allows people to acquire high level skills that increase chances to find better jobs, allowing them to feel more fulfilled in their life. In order to bridge the skills gap, firms neet to collaborate with schools, universities and research centers to train and nurture young talents. Furthermore, cooperation between companies is vital for the industry sector, as sharing innovative know-how, technologies and values can help the entire ecosystem to grow.
As JoinPad, we showed our BrainPad solution applied to Rold’s SmartFab platform, which enables, in particular, object recognition and augmented reality visualization through mobile devices and smart glasses, thus improving data availability and management.
In addition, attendees had the opportunity to try the latest version of our Smart Assistance solution which has been received with great interest by the manufacturing industry, since it can be used to facilitate maintainance processes through remote support.
