On 12th of December, 2018, JoinPad took part in the first “China-Europe Innovation Summit of Artificial Intelligence Industry” in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. The one-day event, organized by Talent Garden and China Augmented Reality Alliance (ARA) in the Cloud Park, gathered about 500 attendees, and 20 international and local business leaders as Ivan Cui, executive director of Ginwa, Andrey Drobitko, founder of SketchAR, and Lorenzo Cappannari, CEO of AnotheReality, and Jonathan Komang-Sønderbek, founder of Khora. They shared insights on breakthrough technological solutions which combine Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality that are going to radically transform the industrial sector in the next years. Participants had also the opportunity to establish partnerships with local businesses and investment institutes.
The strategic long-term aim of the Summit is to merge Chinese industrial players and investors with European companies that offer AI / AR services. The Guangdong Province, comprising major industrial cities as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Dongguan, is posed to become a “global factory“, incubator of disruptive start-ups, leading area of the 2025 strategic manufacturing plan laid down by the Chinese Government, beating heart of the future AR, AI and VR Research and Development Centers that will create product innovation and overall industrial upgrading in a context of sustainable development. The first step was already taken during the conference as agreements for six new innovation parks have been signed in cooperation with Zeizhang University and Tian An Cyber Park Group.
JoinPad’s CEO, Mauro Rubin, participated as speaker in two panels: one on market exchange of Artificial Intelligence technologies between China and Central Europe; the other on the Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence applications within the workplace.
“In a historic moment where Artificial Intelligence is applied in various sectors for the optimization of industrial processes, AR is the key technology that connects people and machines. From the geopolitical point of view, an interesting combination of the investment capacity of the Chinese market and the European technological development, especially in the AI / AR sector, is occurring. China represents an excellent opportunity for European companies not only in terms of investments but also for market scalability with numbers that are unimaginable for Western markets.”

We had the chance not only to reinforce existing partnerships, but also to create new ones by connecting with executives and managers of great AI and AR specilised businesses and investment companies: Guangdong Industrial Finance Holding Company, Janus Dongguan Precision Components Company, Tupu Technology Co. and the Korean Kais Company.
The Summit has been very successful, receiving also a lot of media coverage. It was the first of a series of conferences in China that we hope will be held every six months. We look forward to further cooperate with Chinese enterprises, and grow our business in the South China area, location of many smart factories, where Augmented Reality integrated with Artificial Intelligence systems is ever more a reality.
Lastly, we would like to thank Marcello Merlo of Talent Garden, Ginwa, the ARA Organization, and Mr. Yu of Guangdong Future Investment Development for the invitation.
