AR Cloud: the future of the Internet
We are proud to announce that we have become one of the partners of Open AR Cloud Association (OARC), the largest global non-profit organization dedicated to the creation of an AR Cloud, which mission is to “drive the development of open and interoperable AR Cloud technology, data and standards to connect the physical and digital worlds for the benefit of all” and the same time “protect individual and collective freedoms, privacy, dignity and opportunity”.
To date, the Association counts over 40 international partners ranging from startups to large companies and non-profit organizations working in the immersive technology field. Everyone is expected to collaborate with each other through participating at the Working Groups which focus on eleven key themes: Spatial Indexing & GeoPose; Reality Modeling/Mapping; Content Delivery, Browsing & Ownership; Privacy; Edge-Computing, IoT, and 5G for AR-Cloud; Security; Compliance, Regulations, and Legal; User Experience, Accessibility, and Safety; Open Source, Open Data and Open R&D; Organization and Community; Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and decentralized apps for AR-Cloud. You can read an extensive description of each topic on the OARC Working Groups overview.
The expression “AR Cloud” was first coined in 2017 by Ori Inbar, founder of AWE, as well as OARC, who defined it as “a persistent 3D digital copy of the real world to enable sharing of AR experiences across multiple users and devices”. The AR Cloud is the future evolution of Internet, a 3D space where every object of the reald world will have a 1:1 digital twin and it updated in real-time. Think of it as a “mirror world”.
JoinPad, as a software company focused on developing and distributing AR solutions tailored to industrial processes, thoroughly supports OARC’s mission to help build the next generation of infrastructure that will enhance communication and collaboration between humans, AI systems, machines, and environments. We also think that working with open and transparent standards will definitely benefit the entire ecosystem.
We are keen to collaborate with the other members and cannot wait to meet some of them on October 16 at 2nd State of AR Cloud Event in Munich, Germany.
