Technology at the front line of the crisis
From humanitarian aid to remote working
Amid the global coronavirus outbreak and the related safety measures, we are witnessing a revolution within companies shaping how we all work and collaborate. It’s a significant shift that will push further the digital transformation in our society.
The new technologies based on Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, IoT, VR, and robotics are becoming vital for supporting core operations through remote work while fostering new business models that create value in new ways. This time of difficulty represents the perfect opportunity to invest in AR and VR communication tools that facilitate remote collaboration in any industry. For instance, we recently partnered with LLVision, a Chinese smart glasses startup, to provide our Smart Assistance application to healthcare personnel of hospitals in Wuhan. Among other benefits, the article from Forbes points out how AI and AR (XR) tools can help people with impairments overcome physical hurdles.
Meanwhile, tech companies, such as NReal and Qualcomm, are working on new devices to provide better headsets, smart glasses, and smartphones as well as processors and connectivity infrastructure to enable high-quality AR experiences. Whereas Magic Leap has just updated its operating systems to include a Meeting feature for distance communication. And Apple has launched a more consumer-oriented device, the iPad Pro, optimized for Augmented Reality applications.
