Boosting the Digital Industrial Transformation across Smart Cities
China is accelerating the digital transformation of its economy and public services by implementing systems and applications based on new technologies such as 5G, IoT, AR/VR, and Artificial Intelligence. In the last few years, this breakthrough innovation has also been encouraged through policies and considerable investments in global collaboration initiatives to favor exchanges between Chinese and international technology companies.
The Zhongguancun Smart City Information Industry Alliance is one of the leading innovation hubs worldwide promoting a series of these cooperation programs between China and Italy. It actively promotes the development of smart cities and smart urbanization to form the most important ecosystem of smart cities across the country alongside technologically advanced industrial clusters.
On September 14, JoinPad took part in the second China-Italy Enterprise Exchange Conference held online by the Zhongguancun Smart City Information Industry Alliance and the China-EU Urban Renewal and Smart City Research Association. At the presence of the Deputy Secretary-General of Zhongguancun Smart City, and the representatives of about a hundred companies in the country, our CEO, Mauro Rubin, kicked off the conference by giving a speech about the company and our work in developing powerful Augmented Reality and AI applications for remote support as Smart Assistance. Companies like BTicino, CommScope, and M.H. Material Handling have chosen the industrial AR platform for remote work and collaboration, among many others, to improve their maintenance, repair, training, and commercial processes.

In the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting also focused on solutions supporting the healthcare industry through telemedicine solutions. Although our Smart Assistance is primarily designed for industrial environments and jobs, it is also a highly flexible solution and can be adapted to medical and first response use cases. In the past few months, we already released a Smart Assistance version on smart glasses in collaboration with the Chinese startup LLVision to help doctors in Wuhan reach the population at home and perform diagnosis remotely. We also opened a program called “Smart Assistance for Good,” providing humanitarian organizations with AR and AI technologies to simplify remote response operations.
The president of the Smart City China-Europe program has emphasized that under the global epidemic, telemedicine can expand access to medical care services and improve the level of medical assistance services.
Finally, the president of the Smart City Research Association confirmed his intention to increase further bilateral business and cultural exchanges between China and Italy, providing support through investments and consulting services.
We are honored to be part of such ambitious cooperation programs in China and to contribute with our technology to the constitution of smart factories as well as smart cities.
