JoinPad's Augmented Reality solutions for smart factories
Factories all around the world are currently shifting towards a more connected, intelligent and efficient organizational model, the so-called Industry 4.0, where people and new technologies collaborate to carry out activities in a more effective way. Augmented Reality plays a strategic role within the new innovation paradigm by bridging digital objects, machinery, and people in real time. It enables a new kind of smart connection that makes sense of data and transforms it into strategic information to ultimately enhance industrial processes, MRO services, human-robot collaboration, and workforce learning experience.
In this view, last month we started a new partnership with Liuc – Università Cattaneo in Castellanza to showcase our technology within their innovative i-Fab showroom which replicates a small-scale lean factory 4.0, where partners, business managers, and entrepreneurs can attend events and try first-hand cutting edge digital technologies. I-Fab acts also as a laboratory simulating an assembly line where students can attempt to manufacture foosball tables. Every workstation of the process is combined with a specific new technology. So, for example, they can print small components in 3D, digitally simulate the design of the production line or work side by side with state-of-the-art robots. The high-tech equipment is provided by major industrial players as Bosch-Rexoroth, Omron Adept, and Rold. The latter has been recently included in the ‘Lighthouses‘ community by the World Economic Forum for its innovative IoT system, SmartFab, that enables an integrated, real-time data management on a wide range of devices. JoinPad will provide Augmented Reality dashboards for the SmartFab solution, implementing our Brainpad authoring tool that enables a simpler, intuitive and natural way of interacting with data and information within a smart factory. Over the next months, we will also provide Liuc’s lab with the Smart Assistance application for remote support within industrial settings.
We are honored to show the opportunities Augmented Reality opens up for modern factories in terms of quality, productivity, efficiency. We also appreciate that our tools will help young people to acquire advanced digital and technical skills they could apply one day at work.
