Rotaract Reunion on Industry 4.0 - Augmented Reality
Complex industrial processes are better managed and performed through Augmented Reality systems which support human workers by providing contextual information directly in their field of view so that they do not waste precious time browsing through endless pages of a user guide on paper. They can also take advantage of the AR remote support to contact an expert in the company that can show them how to repair a piece of certain machinery or assembly new products. The possible uses of this emerging technology are countless and in continual development, especially in the industrial sector.
We had the opportunity to talk in depth about the current state of the art and the future of Augmented Reality within enterprises yesterday, on March 10th, 2019, at the Rotaract District 2042 reunion titled “Industry 4.0 – Augmented Reality“, held at Hotel Villa Flori on Lake Como. Our business developer, Federico Zoia, and CTO, Giuseppe Audino, attended the event as speakers, illustrating to an audience of young Rotary’s members how AR has evolved, what are the main current applications and how it allows businesses thrive in the digital-interconnected era. JoinPad’s use cases provided the public with real examples of how AR solutions have already been successfully implemented within some major companies as ABB, Alstom, and Siemens. The meeting ended with a Q&A session and practical demonstrations of applications on Smart Glasses.
