Augmented Reality widespread adoption is getting closer
From the current landscape to new projects of big companies and AR Cloud
Augmented Reality technology is thriving and expected to grow significantly in the next few years, reaching 160$ billion revenue, and up to 30 million of AR glasses sold by 2023. According to The Venture Reality Fund quarterly update, there are currently more than 380 enterprises in the ecosystem that are pushing the boundaries of technological innovation through AR in a variety of fields.
We are proud to be featured as one of them since we are constantly working on improving processes’ digitization and building the next generation of industrial AR-based platforms. Also, we have recently joined the Open AR Cloud Association, the largest global non-profit organization dedicated to the development of the AR Cloud, a 3D map of the world that will enable real-time AR experiences. The AR Cloud, as well as the efforts of large companies such as Amazon and Facebook to devise lightweight Smart Glasses, will lead to mass consumer adoption of AR technology. In the meanwhile, Augmented Reality is becoming well established in the power and utility sector, traditionally more resistant to new technologies.
We close this month’s round-up with an engaging article that explains in simple language what is Augmented Reality, its different forms, and use cases, for anyone who still might need to understand the basis of the AR revolution.
